Band Director

Kyle Ferland

 

Kyle Ferland will be completing his fourth year in the 2021/22 band season as Director of Bands at Winter Springs High School. Mr. Ferland has previously taught at Crystal River High School, Deltona Middle School, and most recently Wekiva High School in Apopka, FL. Mr. Ferland holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Stetson University and a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Florida State University. From 2002-2004, Mr. Ferland was a member of the Magic of Orlando Drum and Bugle Corps. In 2005, he joined the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps for his age out year.

Mr. Ferland is currently a member of the Florida Bandmaster’s Association, Florida Music Educator’s Association, National Association for Music Education, and National Band Association. He is also a proud member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America. Mr. Ferland remains an active performer with the Southern Winds Ensemble.

Mr. Ferland is very excited to continue the tradition of excellence established by the Winter Springs High School band program. He is also thrilled to work alongside with his wife Kara Ferland, who has been the chorus teacher at Winter Springs High School for her entire career.

Outside of teaching and playing music, Mr. Ferland enjoys road cycling, playing basketball, and spending time with his wife Kara, daughter Mckenzie Joy, and his dog Rachmaninoff (Rachy).

Tim Gallagher

 

Tim Gallagher has been a teacher at Winter Springs High School for the past 19 years, where he currently teaches AP Computer Science and Pre-Calculus. He has been a drill designer for numerous high schools throughout Florida for over 25 years.  He has also worked with Drum and Bugle Corps and college marching bands as well.

Tim has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Miami, and a Masters degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from the University of Central Florida.  He is also currently a member of the Central States Judges Association, adjudicating at marching band festivals throughout the Southeastern US each marching band season.
